A house-to-house campaign in Barangay 107 in Pasay City turned bloody Tuesday when the driver of a councilor candidate was shot dead in broad daylight.
Wilfredo Panahon, 38, the driver of second-district councilor candidate Alvin Cruzin, died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the head and body.
Police said Panahon was waiting for Cruzin to finish his rounds of the barangay when two masked men on a motorcycle arrived and gunned him down at the corner of Padre Zamora and Primero de Marso Streets at about 10:30 a.m.
Cruzin said he rushed out of an alley upon hearing gunfire and found his driver sprawled on the ground.
The councilor believed he was the real target but police downplayed the political angle of the killing. Jaymee T. Gamil
