Laguna police recapture jail escapee in Cavite
CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna—One of two inmates who bolted the municipal jail in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, has been recaptured in General Trias, Cavite, police said Tuesday.
Jose Caballero did not resist arrest when he was apprehended by policemen at a friend’s house in ACM Subdivision in General Trias around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Sta. Cruz police chief Superintendent Meliton Salvadora said in a telephone interview.
He said Caballero’s parents, who are from Sta. Cruz, cooperated with authorities and led them to the home of Caballero’s girlfriend in Cavite.
Caballero was arrested for robbery about two months ago.
On Sunday evening, Caballero and two other inmates, Tyrone Pamilacan and Jonel Alay, broke free from the Sta. Cruz jail by breaking the window grills in their cell and climbing to the roof.
“We are also wondering how but the other inmates said they broke the grills just by force without using any tool,” Salvadora said.
