IN A SURPRISING turn of events, Cebuano head coach Britt Carlo Reroma of the NCAA juniors champions San Beda Red Cubs has resigned from his post.
This was confirmed by Reroma himself in a brief interview yesterday.
Reroma, the man largely responsible for steering the Red Cubs to three championship titles in the last four years, cited “personal reasons” for his decision to step down as head coach of the highly successful basketball factory. The Red Cubs are the winningest juniors team in NCAA history with 20 crowns to their name.
“I’m going back to Cebu and magpapahinga lang muna ako,” said Reroma, who mentored the Red Cubs to the title last year in spite of 12 rookies filling the roster.
Reroma came from Don Bosco before being discovered by legendary head coach Ato Badolato when he was 13. He continued his career in Manila and suited up for the Red Lions before eventually becoming head coach of the Red Cubs.
As for the next step in Reroma’s career, he said that he has yet to decide on anything. “I’ll just weigh my options first before deciding on what to do next. For now, pahinga lang muna.” /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
