Maximo wins in Laguna

SEVENTEEN-year old junior cyclist Luis Miguel Maximo continued to do what he does best as he took the title in the Men’s 16-19 class of the SBR Duaman Duathlon Championships last Sunday at the Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Maximo, now a varsity track athlete of the Ateneo de Manila University and backed by YKK, finished the 3 km run – 20 km bike – 3 km run event, in one hour and three minutes, outlasting runners-up Justin Mapalo and Joby Soberano.

The event is widely known to be one of the biggest multisport events in the country and was attended by over 600 participants.

Behind by two minutes after the first 3 km run, Igimax easily erased the lead of runner Justin Mapalo in the 20 km bike leg and built a cushion of over two minutes heading into transition 2. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
