Safara needs help to get new liver
Safara Chloee Gabayan was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a liver disease, when she was 5-months-old.
According to her case study, Gabayan was already very weak when she was brought to National Children’s Hospital on Sept. 19, 2012, due to a high fever. Since then, she has been under close monitoring at the hospital, where she is undergoing tests.
A finding is that she needed a liver transplant but her family does not have the money to send the fifth and youngest child of tricycle driver Joey Gabayan to a Taiwanese hospital for the operation.
“We would need P3 million for the living donor transplantation. That is why I am knocking on the compassionate hearts of your readers,” said Safara’s mother, Mary Val Gabayan in her letter to the Inquirer.
The bleeding that Safara experiences every now and then worries the Gabayan couple, doubling their effort to raise the money.
