Break The Silence Run kicks off today in Ayala

THE MUCH AWAITED Break The Silence: Stop Deaf Sexual Abuse Run will kick off today with around a thousand runners expected to answer the starting gun at the Ayala Terraces at the Cebu Business Park.

The race will feature 4-kilometer, 8K and 16K runs.  There will also be a special category for Persons With Disabilities with a distance of 1K.

This is the third straight year that the crusading Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme, Inc. is holding this race. Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme is a foundation that protects and campaigns for the prevention of deaf mute sexual abuse in the country.

Proceeds of this event will be used in establishing a sustainable deaf-child sexual abuse prevention program. It will also help strengthen the organization’s existing and future volunteers.

The running event will be handled by race director Joel Baring of the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
