Armed robbers in Quezon City have allegedly terrorized the family of a lawyer working for the Bureau of Customs, taking his vehicle, over a million pesos in cash and valuables, a stack of documents and even the pet dog.
The attackers left Julio Doria and two family members hogtied before fleeing, according to the Quezon City Police District. The alleged robbery took place around 2 a.m. on April 6 and the case was turned over to the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit only this week.
Quoting the victims, Insp. Alan de la Cruz, theft and robbery section chief, said Doria was traveling in his Toyota Innova with his nephew in New Manila when a black Toyota Grandia van blocked their path on 9th Street.
Five pistol-wielding men in shorts and hooded jackets got out of the van and took over the Innova, driving the vehicle to Doria’s residence in
a gated subdivision within Barangay Batasan Hills. They hogtied Doria and his nephew en route to the house.
Upon reaching the Doria residence, the men found his wife Kristine and also tied her up. They then ransacked the house, taking about P1.4 million in cash and valuables, along with the family’s Shih Tzu dog.
Doria also reported the loss of his three pistols and supply of ammunition, as well as several IDs, credit cards and the documents he kept in the Innova, De la Cruz said.
In about 30 minutes, the robbers were also able to load several home appliances, gadgets, and sporting gear into the vehicle.
They then left the house with their loot in the Innova, taking the still-hogtied Doria and his nephew with them. After they came out of Batasan Hills, the black Grandia reappeared and began tailing them.
The robbers later released Doria and his nephew on E. Rodriguez Street in Barangay Manuel.
