Green, Maroon win in Cekalco
THE Michael Sameon-led Green Lantern routed winless Yellow Submarine, 74-54, Thursday night while Maroon trounced Pink Panthers, 93-86, in the Center Katipunan A. Lopez Christian Organization (CEKALCO)-2013, Mayor Mike Rama Cup Inter-color basketball tournament.
Green only led by single-digit in the opening half but sizzled at the bend to seal the 20-point rout.
Michael Sameon and Pipoy Escolar led Green Lantern with a game-high 23 and 20 points, respectively while Richard Cabasan and Jerome Dumduma paced Yellow with 14 and 13 markers.
In the main game, Maroon led 27-17 in the opening period but Pink responded with a 20-17 run to close in at 37-44 at the bend. Pink then unloaded a blistering 33-21 bomb in the third to erect a 5-point lead, 70-65, entering the payoff canto.
Maroon however, outscored Pink in the fourth, 28-16 for the 7-point victory.
Edward Romariz and Tony Cocamas led Maroon with 30 and 16 points, respectively, while Dondon Batola and John Michael Bello paced Pink with 25 and 20 points.
