THE San Miguel Beermen made history as they registered the most lopsided win in league history after drubbing the Saigon Heat, 101-49, in the ASEAN Basketball League late Wednesday evening at the Tan Binh Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
With just six active players on their lineup, the Heat proved to be no match for the streaking Beermen which hiked their winning run to nine games for a league-leading 12-3 (win-loss) record. Moreover, the 52-point margin is the largest in the league, beating the 41-point rout recorded by the Singapore Slingers on the Brunei Barracudas several years ago.
Asi Taulava, who was named Player of the Month, led the Beermen with 18 points while Chris Banchero had 12. San Miguel’s reinforcements, Justin Williams and Brian Williams, each tallied 11 markers.
