The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR-7) warned local government units to continue monitoring of areas prone to flooding and landslides.
DENR-7 spokesman Eddie Llamedo said the LGUs should revisit the geo-hazard assessment provided by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau to prepare for disasters.
The geo-hazard assessment maps out soil with limestone composition or the proximity of an area to a cliff or slopes, Llamedo said.
He said the map includes warnings, precautionary measures and emergency response suggestions for the LGUs and the community.
If the LGUs are prepared, Llamedo said, the community avoids risks and casualties.
Last July 31, two casualties were reported after a landslide in Bohol./reporter candeze r. mongaya
