PANGASINAN, Philippines — More opposition candidates are eyeing the support of the White Vote Movement after the group recently endorsed six senatorial candidates.
Even in separate interviews just before they hit the campaign trail once more in Pangasinan, some of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) candidates agreed on one thing: every pledge of support counts.
Even former Tarlac Governor Margarita Cojuangco said she would “seek the support of everybody, I really would.”
The White Vote Movement has endorsed San Juan Representative JV Ejercito Estrada, Zambales Representative Mitos Magsaysay and Senator Gregorio Honasan of UNA, and Team PNoy’s former Las Pinas Representative Cynthia Villar and Senators Aquilino Pimentel III and Antonio Trillanes IV.
“Any religious denomination” would do for Cojuangco who felt that “there are no more endorsements” coming from the group led by Mike Velarde.
Former senator Ernesto Maceda said he “could not afford not to talk” to religious groups for possible support, adding that he has even written to Iglesia ni Cristo.
Nancy Binay, daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay, shared this sentiment saying that “each vote counts.”
With less than a month left, she said that they had to reach out to all possible groups for support whether they were “religious, civic or non-governmental organizations.”
“I would ask these groups to support not only me but the entire UNA slate,” Binay said.
