Following his victory over Japanese Hiromasa Ohashi last weekend, newly crowned Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super bantamweight champion Roli Gasca is expected to have a lot of greater opportunities coming his way.
Gasca, from Barili town southern Cebu, beat Hiromasa via a twelve-round majority decision at the Aioi Hall, Kariya, Aichi in Japan.
ALA Boxing Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said he is very optimistic of his fighter and plans to bring the boxer’s career to the next level.
“I am already planning a bigger fight for him,” said Aldeguer.
Aldeguer said Gasca has matured a lot and is fit to fight a Latin or Mexican boxer anytime this year.
“Imagine, you are fighting in foreign land with all the crowd cheering for their fighter so it’s very impressive that you managed to make all the three judges favor you,” Aldeguer said.
This October, Gasca will be included in the undercard of Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista’s fight in the Pinoy Pride Series.
“He already won two important regional titles, and I am very proud of him,” added Aldeguer.
Gasca also bagged the PABA bantamweight title against Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat in Thailand recently.
Aldeguer’s ultimate plan for Gasca is to put him in the list of world contenders in the future.
Joseph Baldago, Gasca’s trainer, said that the boxer was supposed to fight in the upcoming Philippines vs. Mexico Pinoy Pride 8 this Sept. 10 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. But they opted to rest Gasca and was replaced by Genesis Servania, who will be fighting Mexican Gerson Gerrero in the undercard of the Pinoy Pride 8.
