Police yesterday raided the house owned by a friend of the son of suspended Gov. Gwen Garcia.
Police searched the residence of Jose Maria Primitivo “Joey” Cal in barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City for unlicensed firearms.
Cal, however, was not around since he reportedly transferred residence to Lapu-Lapu City.
Supt. Rex Derilo, chief of the Firearms, Explosives, Security Agencies and Guards Supervisory Section (FESAGSS), and members of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG), raided Cal’s house after the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Soliver Peras issued a search warrant for possession of unlicensed firearms against Cal.
Camp Crame earlier revoked Cal’s firearms’ license.
Aside from Cal, firearm licenses of his friends Tonyson Lee and Pablo Garcia III, suspended governor Garcia’s son, were also revoked.
Lee and Garcia III, earlier surrendered some of their firearms to police.
Cal, Lee and Garcia III were accused of striking a police officer in the head at the height of the standoff at the Capitol last December when Governor Garcia defied the suspension order against her.

During the search yesterday at Elvira Cui Subdivision, only Cal’s mother Sonia was around.
Before the raid, two firearms sold by Cal to Teodorico Adarna, a businessman, were surrendered by Adarna’s lawyer at past 3 p.m.
Lawyer Butch Cañares surrendered the firearms to Derilo’s office.
Cañares said the .38 pistol and a carbine rifle were bought by his client from Cal last year, but ownership of the guns was not transferred to him yet.
The lawyer presented a deed of absolute sale showing the guns were acquired by his client from Cal.
Derilo said based on the records of their office, Cal owned four firearms.The other two guns, a Glock 40 caliber pistol and .38 Llamas pistol were the subject of the search warrant.
