THE Fruitas Shakers try to gain a share of the lead when they tackle the EA Regens today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup over at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
However, the Shakers face a tall order especially against the gigantic frontline of Team Delta bannered by Raymund Almazan and the reigning NCAA MVP, Ian Sangalang. A victory by the Shakers in their 2 p.m. duel with Team Delta would allow them to pull into a tie for first place with idle Blackwater Sports (5-1).
The aforementioned duo have been playing solid lately. Almazan (17 points, 14 rebounds) and Sanggalang (18 points, 10 rebounds) are averaging double-double the past two games and their dominant play led to two consecutive victories for Team Delta against Cagayan Valley and Cebuana Lhuillier.
In the other game, Jumbo Plastic (2-5) tries to win to in a row for the first time in the conference when it takes on Cebuana Lhuillier at 4 p.m. The Gems [3-4], who are coming off a 69-73 loss to EA Regens last Monday, try to get back on the winning track to stay in contention for a playoff spot. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
