ALA pugs meet Mexican foes today in Davao

ALA Gym boxers Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista (34W(25 KOs)- 2L) and Rocky Fuentes (34W(20 KOs)– 6L-2D) will meet their respective Mexican opponents, Jose “Negro” Ramirez (24W (15 KOs)- 3L) and Juan Kantun (20W (15 KOs)-3L-3D) for the first time in a press conference scheduled today in Davao City.

Bautista will be defending his WBO International featherweight title for the first time against Ramirez.

The native of Candijay, Bohol won the title last October by split decision against Daniel Ruiz of Mexico at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Fuentes, from Mambaling, Cebu, will be facing a Mexican boxer for the second time in his career. Last year, he stopped Javier Franco in six rounds at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

In an intriguing undercard match between two undefeated Filipino prospects, defending OPBF super flyweight champion ‘King’ Arthur Villanueva (20W(11KOs)-0L) of the ALA gym will trade punches with challenger Marco Demecillo Singwangcha (18W(14 KOs)-0L-1D) of the RWS Gym, who is the reigning Philippine super flyweight champion. This will be the first Pinoy Pride event that will be held in Mindanao. The official weigh-in will be on Friday, April 19 at SM City Davao.

Pinoy Pride 19: Mexican Invasion will be held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) gym in Davao City on April 20, Saturday.
