Two men were injured around noon Wednesday when a car crashed into a convenience store in Quezon City.
The driver was the teenage daughter of Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) executive director and veteran TV sports anchor Ed Picson.
PO2 Michael Rito of the Quezon City Police District’s Kamuning traffic sector identified the wounded as John Rebarbosa, 23; and Mark Anthony Macabasag, 19, both customers of the 7-Eleven outlet at the corner of Edsa and Quezon Avenue.
Rebarbosa sustained a deep cut from broken glass on his left knee while Macabasag suffered a fracture on his right leg.
This was after a red Mazda (TMG-750) driven by Picson’s 19-year-old daughter Carissa crashed into the store around 12:30 p.m. Rito said the teenager was making a right turn to park the car at a fastfood restaurant near the store when three pedestrians suddenly crossed her path.
But instead of stopping, the car surged forward as the young Picson stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes, Rito said.
The car cleared the access ramp and went halfway through the convenience store. The two men, who were then eating near the window, were able to jump off their seats to avoid the car but were still injured by the shattered glass and collapsed metal frames. Jeannette I. Andrade
