Idols, Ylac, Eagles share lead in IBP hoop

FORMER grand slam winner Super Idols edged Primos, 53-51, while the Eagles and the Young Lawyers Association of Cebu (YLAC) beat separate foes to share the lead (2-0 win-loss) in the 10th Season IBP basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.

The Super Idols led by single digit in the first three periods before Primos tied the count at 45-all on Enrique Rama’s jumpshot. Then Allan Geotina nailed a booming triple for Primos’ first taste of the lead, 48-47 with 1:40 remaining. But Ramsey Quijano and Bert Mañus delivered crucial baskets for Super Idols’ two-point win.

Bert Mañus and Ramsey Quijano led Super Idols with 16 and 13 points, respectively, while Enrique Rama and Allan Geotina paced the winless Primos with 14 and 11 markers.

Earlier, the Eagles shocked defending champion Pañeros, 79-75 while YLAC trounced Titans, 80-72. Van Ligutan and Rey Gealon led YLAC with 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Richard Bauzon and Ferdie Riveral paced Titans with 24 and 10 markers points for their first loss in two games.

In the last game, the Pecandela Law Firm routed Dissenters, 76-58, for their first win in two games, while the latter dropped to 0-2.
