Batch ‘88 makes quarters, secures twice-to-beat edge
DEWFOAM ’88 secured the fifth spot and the twice-to-beat advantage that comes with it in the quarterfinals after it beat PTT 2005, 59-46, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Ricky Yu had 13 points and 16 rebounds along with two steals while Erwin Yu also had 13 points that went along with five rebounds, four assists and four steals for Dewfoam, which started off on a hot note and led 18-6 and never looked back.
On the other hand, Argentina Corned Beef ’84/87/90 and Wild Rice 2007 outlasted separate foes to take a graceful exit in the four-mount tournament.
Henrich Chua, Sammy Sia, and Paul Michael Cabellon connived for 40 points, 18 rebounds, and two assists as Class ’84/87/90 hacked out a 57-48 victory over Jepoy ’99, while Juan Carlo Espada and Robin Chu combined for 24 points and four rebounds as Class 2007 ended its bid with a 45-41 escape over Fil-Ann 2009. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
