The controversy involving the Sanchez siblings is very unfortunate. Recently the daughter of the late vice governor Greg Sanchez, Gigi Zaballero complained about the behavior of her brother Greco whom she said is hooked on illegal drugs. This is not the first time that we have heard of Greco because even when the late Greg Sanchez was still alive we already heard about his concern over his son’s misbehavior.
Zabellero complained to the police that her brother has been harassing members of the family and their staff in the corporation and stole the family boat. Last week Greco was arrested inside a drug den in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City. He was suspected to have gone often to the drug den to get a high there. I just hope that Greco would avail of professional help for the sake of his mother and late father but especially for himself and his future.

Apparently Mayor Socrates Fernandez according to news reports has no intention of turning over his adopted son the controversial Joavan Fernandez to the police and has continued to defend him by saying that his son was inside a motel with a companion when the shooting of a resident happened.
But the mayor should realize that his son Joavan was positively identified by the shooting victim and an alibi is weak when the culprit has been positively identified. I do not know if the accusation of Joavan that Congressman Gullas is behind the plot for political reasons can hold water. So far Congressman Gullas has not answered the accusation of Joavan though many know that the grandson of Gullas, Edigul is running for councilor of Talisay City.
The police is in a manhunt for Joavan for the shooting incident but I hope Mayor Soc will now help by surrendering his son to the police so that he can answer the accusations against him. It would be in the best interests of Joavan if his father surrendered him rather than let the police pursue a manhunt operation. Both Joavan and Greco should have themselves get admitted to a rehabilitation center for their own sake.

In news reports the Cebu city government spotted about 42 projects in the city that are considered a duplication of the projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Why is this happening? The answer is simple because the DPWH finds no reason to coordinate with the local government about the projects that they are going to implement within the city.
But isn’t important and part of protocol for the department to inform or coordinate with the city on projects in the city? Well supposedly it is, to avoid duplication of projects and the waste of money and time. Luckily for the DPWH the city government conducted some spot checks and called the possible duplication. The city government already asked the DPWH to realign the budget for similar projects to finance an extension of city projects. The DPWH agreed saying that is no problem. After all the budget is taken from the pork barrel of the legislators.
