Canaleta named week’s best in pba

NINO CANALETA kept his unforgettable season going as he helped tow the Air21 Express to the playoffs with a scintillating performance against Petron, which earned him the Player of the Week award for the period of April 8 to 14 in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Canaleta scored 37 points, highlighted by nine three-pointers, that pushed the Express past the Petron Blaze Boosters, 95-91, last Saturday.

The victory completed the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals cast, with Air21 in its second straight playoffs appearance after missing out on all three conferences last season.

It was the most triples made by any player this season and equalled the Air21 franchise mark recorded thrice by Ren-Ren Ritualo, the most recent last Jan. 27, 2006 in the 2005-06 Fiesta Conference semifinals against Purefoods. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
