Pages captures 2 crowns in 18th Gullas Tennis Cup
Bright Academy’s Jana Pages continued her winning streak as she emerged champion in the 18-and 16-Under Girls divisions of the 18th Gullas Tennis Cup yesterday at the Cebu International Tennis Centre Inc. in barangay Laray, Consolacion town.
Coming off the heels of her success in the recently-held Milo Junior Tennis Cup, Pages cruised to an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over Elgy Dasian to clinch the 18-Under Girls title.
The 18-Under Girls finals match was a breather for the 14-year-old netter, who earlier had to go through a three-set encounter in the 16 Under Girls final battle against fellow Bright Academy colleague Zethley Mae Alferez.
Alferez mounted a serious challenge for the 16 Under Girls title as she took the first set at 6-4. Pages was able to force a third set by winning the second set, 6-2. Pages gained steam in the third set as she blanked Alferez, 6-0.
Alferez did not go home without a title as she grabbed the 14-Under Girls title via a 6-1, 6-2 win over Shyne Villareal.

In the 18-Under title fight, Kinaadman pulled off a 7-5 win in the first set against Marc Norman Enriquez. The second set was an all-Kinaadman show as Enriquez only managed a point. Kinaadman closed out the second set at 6-1.
Enriquez also faltered in the 21-Under Boys after losing the title to Jeffrie Jumawan.
Enriquez looked headed for a win when he took the first set at 6-3. However, Jumawan went on to close the match, 6-2, 6-1, in his favor.
Gener Francis Lambayan nailed his second 14-Under Boys title with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Clyde Dujali.
In the 12-Under Boys finals, Jace Unto showed good form as he frustrated Cesar Kristopher Salimbangon, 6-1, 6-1, for the title.
Salimbangon also failed to stop Gabriel Trazo from taking the 10-Under Unisex title.
