HONESTY IS still the best policy.
This was certainly true in the case of a taxi driver who returned the cash and valuables left behind by a passenger in his cab.
In Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the Pasay City Hall, Joven Sedillo—a resident of Barangay 108—was given a certificate of commendation for his honesty by Mayor Antonino Calixto.
This was after he returned a laptop computer and P4,000 in cash which a Chinese passenger had forgotten in his cab.
Exemplary Pasayeño
“As an exemplary Pasayeño, Joven Sedillo deserves to be commended, Calixto said.
He added, “His honesty only proves that even if there are a lot of people who are [engaged in] illegal acts, there are still men and women who are honest and dedicated.”
At the same time, Calixto and other city officials also cited barangay fire brigades and volunteer firemen who help put fires in the city.
Among those honored were volunteer fire brigades from Barangays 59, 76, 201, the Malibay Volunteer Fire Brigade Foundation Inc. and Central Lions Fire Volunteer.
Commendations were also handed out to the Filipino Chinese Libertad Volunteer Fire Rescue Inc., 137 Volunteer Fire Brigade (Penetrator) and Pasay Volunteer Fire Brigade Inc.

All of the groups received certificates for their contribution to helping the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) realize its mission of protecting residents, Calixto said.
Meanwhile, the city government turned over to the BFP and volunteer fire fighters a brand new fire truck, an aerial ladder as well as other rescue and protective equipment to show its support for the bureau.
