MANILA, Philippines – The tail-end of a cold front over extreme Northern Luzon is bringing cloudy skies and rains to the Batanes and Calayan groups of islands, and Cagayan province, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.
These areas in the extreme north will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms, according to a bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it said.
The weather bureau defines “tail-end of a cold front” as the front boundary of two air masses, usually found in mid-latitudes. It generally brings rainfall and cloudiness over the affected areas.
In its outlook for Sunday, Pagasa said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast would prevail over Northern Luzon, and its coastal waters would be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas, it added.
Pagasa also issued a special weather advisory for Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley, the two provinces hit hardest by Typhoon Pablo last December. The two provinces will be cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, the weather bureau said.
