MANILA, Philippines—Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co through his lawyers on Friday contested the arrest warrant issued against him by the Iligan City Regional Trial Court.

“We have submitted a motion for reconsideration against the arrest warrant…We also questioned the court’s denial of our motion for determination of probable cause,” Atty. Trixie Angeles said over the phone.

“Hence, the arrest warrant is now being contested because of the motion for reconsideration. The said order [to arrest Mayor Co] cannot be final without a hearing,” Angeles added.

Earlier, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that the warrant for Co’s arrest has been issued by the court and they are trying to serve it but Co could not be found.

But Angeles said Co is still in Pagadian.

Co is facing a case for syndicated estafa in connection with Aman Futures pyramiding scheme.
