CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday ordered three city government engineers to stop reporting for work starting yesterday to comply with the Visayas Ombudsman’s suspension order against them.
City engineers June Nadine Sison, Juanito Pua Jr., and Joel Pasatiempo are under investigation for accusations of anti-graft and corrupt practices, grave abuse of authority, gross misconduct and conduct unbecoming of government employees filed against them by a City Hall project contractor.
Engineer Roberto Montenegro of the FE and A Construction Services accused Asst. City Engineer Sison, Construction Division Head Pua, and Project Engineer Pasatiempo of asking for a camera and computer unit to replace those that bogged down in the office.
FE and A Construction worked on the construction of a stone masonry in sitio riverside in Sanciangko Street in barangay Pahina Central and the Toong road concreting project when the alleged extortion attempt happened last year.
Rama said that he had to refer the suspension order to the city legal office for review. That was the reason it took him almost a month to have the preventive suspension order implemented. /Reporter Doris C. Bongcac and Correspondent Edison A. Delos Angeles
