Wife sends ‘abusive’ husband to jail

SAYING she has suffered too much, a woman in barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City finally decided to report to the police to have her abusive husband arrested.

The woman said she has been a battered wife since 1996 and there were times when her husband poked a gun at her in front of their two children aged 10 and four.

The woman yesterday went to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) to report that her husband threatened to kill her.

The woman said she was asleep when her husband arrived home drunk and high on illegal drugs around 3 a.m. yesterday.

The woman said she woke up when her husband kicked her in the thigh.

The woman said when she asked her husband what was wrong with him, the man drew a gun, cocked it and told her “patyon tikaw (I will kill you).”

The woman shouted for help and hid in one corner of the house.

The complainant said her husband was yelling “patyon ta mo tanan (I will kill you all),” while looking for her. The wife later sought help from the barangay tanods who then called the police.

CIDG-7 operatives arrived and spotted the husband outside his house allegedly carrying a gun.

Police said two knives were also seized from the possession of the husband. The husband will be charged of violation of election gun ban, illegal possession of a firearm and grave threat.
