Team Hotel makes Cekalco final

TEAM Hotel skippered by pointguard Kelvin Cinco crushed Team Delta of Roland ‘El Presidente’ Sameon in overtime, 115-105, Saturday night in the semifinal round of the Center Katipunan A. Lopez Christian Organization (CEKALCO)-2013, Second Season basketball tournament.

Delta led, lead, 20-16, in the opening period but Hotel waxed hot in the 2nd with a, 27-19 rally, then erected a 4-point lead, 43-39, at the bend, and maintained its single-digit lead in the 3rd period, 64-60.

Both camps fought closely in the fourth which ended in an 87-all deadlock in regulation sending the game into overtime.

Hotel sizzled in the extension period, 28-18 to win by ten, 115-105, and advance to the championship match.

Kelvin Cinco exploded with a tournament-high 67 points spiced by eight assists and 10 rebounds for Hotel while Juniel Villarosa and Julius Gutierez paced Delta with 41 and 21 points, respectively.

Earlier, Team Charlie drubbed Echo, 87-75, in their knockout showdown to arrange a semifinal battle against league-leader Golf.

Charlie staged a blistering, 29-11 rally in the 2nd stanza to post a commanding 17 points lead, 46-29, at the half but Echo responded with a blistering 30-13 rally resulting in a 59-all deadlock heading to the final period.

However, Charlie outscored Echo, 28-16 in the payoff canto to seal the 12-point win.

Estoy Panerio led Charlie with a game-high 32 points while Richard Gubaton and Coronel Baculio combined for 29 markers. Donald Catong and Janus Desoyo paced Echo with 19 and 12, respectively.
