MAMBUSAO, CAPIZ, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday took a swipe at his political opponents promising a “right path” for Filipinos in 2016.

Aquino did not names but the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) being headed by Vice President Jejomar Binay and former President Joseph Estrada has been known for using a campaign slogan “tamang daan.”

“Sabi po noong ating mga katunggali kasi, hindi lang dapat  tuwid na landas, dapat tamang landas. Hindi ko naman po sinasabing perpekto tayo. Ginawa lang naman tayo,” he said during a sortie of Team PNoy here Wednesday at the town’s plaza. (Our opponents are saying that it should not only be a straight path, but it should be a right path. I’m not saying that we’re perfect)

“Ang tanong ko lang ho dito, kung meron kayong alam na mas magandang landas bakit hinihintay pa nyo ang 2016 bago ibahagi? Bakit hindi na ninyo ibahagi ngayon ng gumaan ang buhay ng bawat Pillipino(My only question is if you know a better path, then why wait for 2016 to share it? Why not share it to improve the life of each Filipino)?” he asked.

“Kung talagang nananalig tayo na dapat maglingkod sa taumbayan, bakit yung paglilingkod nyo sometime in the futire. Bakit hindi pwede ngyaon na?” (If you really believe in public service, why does it have to be sometime in the future? Why can’t it be now?)

Using this pitch, the President then underscored the need to elect all 12 senatorial candidates of his team, who he said would help and continue the reform agenda of his administration.

None of the 12 senatorial bets, however, was present when Aquino started mentioning their names.

Former Senator Maria Ana Consuelo “Jamby” Madrigal, Aurora Representative Sonny Angara and former Las Pinas Representative Cynthia Vilar attended the sortie but left even before the President arrived at 11 a.m.

Aquino was accompanied by Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas, Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya and other Palace officials.
