2 rescued, 5 missing as boat capsizes in Pampanga
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—Two persons were rescued while five others, including three children, were reported missing after a boat capsized in the Pampanga River in San Luis town on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Senior Superintendent R’Win Pagkalinawan, Pampanga police director, said rescue operations for the missing passengers were suspended as night fell on Tuesday.
Pagkalinawan said the boat capsized in Barangay (village) Sta. Monica at 2:30 p.m.
He identified the rescued passengers as Michael Galaredo, 34, and Leynard Sieza. Missing were Alvin Guevarra, 31; Rea Guevarra; Aldrei Guevarra, 7; Jovelyn Guevarra, 7; and Naigel Locerro, 9.
