LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The commemoration of the 433rd founding anniversary of Pangasinan highlighted the revival of cultural awareness of Pangasinenses through language, literature and history.

In his speech during the Agew na Pangasinan commemorative program on April 5, Gov. Amado Espino said one of the province’s major cultural projects last year was the production of the Pangasinan orthography, the formal system of spelling and correct usage of Pangasinan words.

Espino also said the Kurit Panlunggaring literary contest, which was launched last year, was established to inspire young writers “to embrace fully the beauty of the Pangasinan dialect through their artistic masterpieces.”
