MANILA, Philippines–Commemorating Araw ng Kagitingan, Team PNoy senatorial candidate Jamby Madrigal said on Tuesday that the Philippines needs modern day heroes to fight the war against poverty, hunger and corruption.
Granddaughter of the late Supreme Court Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos, a hero and martyr during the Japanese occupation, Madrigal said even ordinary Filipinos can rise to the occasion and be heroes in their own right.
In a statement issued to media, Madrigal paid tribute to the men and women who suffered and died in the hands of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. “We remember and we won’t forget. The memory of our forefathers live on and the best way to repay their valor is to make our country the best it can be for future
generations,” she said.
The former senator is seeking a fresh term to pursue her crusade against corruption which is also the battlecry of President Aquino III.
