MANILA, Philippines—One was killed and three others were injured when a truck that allegedly lost its brakes hit two other vehicles in Antipolo City before dawn Tuesday, a city traffic operator said.

Operator 902 Tess Nuezca of Antipolo traffic division said the accident involving a 14-wheeler truck loaded with sand, a taxi and a motorcycle occurred on Marcos Highway in Barangay (village) Cabading around 6:20 a.m.

Nuezca said the truck was going downhill on its way to Manila from Infanta, Quezon when its brakes failed. The truck hit a taxi that was in front of it and a motorcycle boarded by Jerome Bandoja Rocello, 30.

Rocello was killed, Nuezca said, and the truck caught fire due to the collision.

Nuezca said truck driver Edwin Baluyot, 36, and his companions Michael, 31, and Jonathan Henson, 25, were injured.

The victims were brought to the Amang Rodriguez Hospital, Nuezca said.
