24 injured as bus crashes into MRT post on Edsa

A total of 24 passengers were hurt when the bus they were riding in smashed into a post of the Metro Rail Transit in Cubao, Quezon City, Monday afternoon.

The 24 victims, including bus driver Joselito Segudisan, were rushed to the nearby Quirino Memorial Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Initial reports said that the accident happened on the northbound lane of Edsa in front of Farmers Plaza at 3:30 p.m.

The Mayamy bus plying the Naia-Fairview route had just come from P. Tuazon Boulevard when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which suffered a malfunction.

The bus swerved into the gutter before it crashed into one of the concrete posts of the overhead train.

A traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority told the police that the bus was not traveling at high speed before the accident.
