MORE than 1,000 youths witnessed the praise and worship concert at the Blessed John XXIII Seminary grounds in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City last July 30.
The concert aimed to raise funds for the construction of Archdiocesan Youth Center.
With the theme “The sound of the new generation,” the youth raised their arms as they danced and sang worship songs with the bands.
“It was an amazing concert. The faith and energy of the crowd was overflowing. It really made me feel better. I sang despite my strained voice knowing that this night is for the glory of God,” said Rueno Junior Samson Bolambot, a Catholic Charismatic Carolinian (CCC) member.
The worship songs were performed by Catholic communities like the Light of Jesus, CCC, Generation Revolution, Young Servants of the Lord and Fire of God ministries.
A talk by Bro. Roberto Cabrillas Jr. of Kerygma highlighted the event.
Cabrillas summed up his talk on “www.com,” which means worship, work, witness and community.
He reminded the youth how to respond to the words of God and how to share and preach these in their own community using the acronym www.com.
Jowannah Lyn Nacar, a member of the Parish Youth Coordinating Council, said the concert was a success. “Everyone was giving God all the praise and glory He deserves. It was a good avenue for preaching to the modern-day youth,” she said.
The concert was also participated by the Commission on Youth (COY) volunteers and Youthlinks members.
“This is a significant concert for we come together to worship God. At the same time, we support the construction of the Archdiocesan Youth Center,” said Janice Estremos, a COY volunteer.
Msgr. Arturo Navales, chairman of the Cebu Archdiocese Commission on Youth, said the center is a place where “young people could gather anytime of the day.” The center is along P. Gomez Street, right across the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.
The event was spearheaded by the Family of United and Empowered Leader (FUEL), the 8th District of COY. /UP Cebu Masscom student Melcah Joyce R. Licup
