Boboy Durano to resume campaign trail next week

SORTIES of One Cebu gubernatorial bet  Rep. Pablo Garcia have started but his runningmate and former Danao City vice mayor Boboy Durano has been noticeably absent.

Durano was hospitalized for over a week in  late March after suffering a stroke but was discharged just before Easter Sunday.

Garcia said One Cebu’s vice gubernatorial bet  was still resting at home but would join the campaign trail after next week.

Garcia told Cebu Daily News in Naga City last Saturday that he advised Durano “to rest some more” before joining him in sorties. He dismissed reports that Durano was  badly ill, saying these were  just rumors.

“He wanted to join me already in sorties but I advised him to rest first,” he said.

Other close family sources said Durano suffered a stroke and for a time was  in the Intensive Care Unit, but his condition was later downplayed as just dehydration.

Garcia said they expect Durano to join them next week.

“Pure speculation that he is badly ill… It was dehydration because of heat stroke. People forgot the heat and just remembered the stroke,” he added.

Durano was admitted at Chong Hua Hospital March 17. His father, Danao City Mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano Jr said his son suffered stress and over fatigue due to his hectic campaign schedule.

Garcia said One Cebu hasn’t stopped visiting all over the province and that United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) leader Vice President Jejomar Binay is erady to join their sorties.

Today, suspended Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia kicks off her her campaign for Cebu’s 3rd district seat.

She will start with a Mass  at Sta. Ana Parish in Barili town and join a caravan to Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Toledo City, Balamban, Asturias and Tuburan.

Governor Garcia will return to Toledo City where a program will be held at the Barba Sports Complex. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
