DFA looking for relatives of OFW who died in Lebanon

/ 06:57 AM April 08, 2013

THE Department of Foreign Affairs–Public Infomation Services Unit (DFA-PISU) has sought the media’s help to locate and inform the relatives of  Alma Faburada Mintalar of her demise.

Mintalar, whose last known address was in Cebu, died of cardiac arrest in Beirut, Lebanon last Feb. 23. She worked as a babysitter for almost three years and her contract was supposed to end last month.

A post mortem examination of her remains showed that the heart attack might have been triggered by her excessive intake of the drug Actifed, contrary to her doctor’s advice. The drug was meant to cure an infection in her respiratory tract. There were also no signs of physical violence or abuse.

Her remains are currently being kept at the Beirut General Hospital. The cost of the repatriation of her remains will be charged against her insurance policy.

Her relatives are advised to fill out a letter of acceptance of remains at the Office of Migrant Workers’ Affairs on the third floor of DFA main building on Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City or at any DFA regional consular office. For inquiries, contact DFA-Cebu at 520-5898.
