Laborer nabbed for molestation

POLICE arrested a 26-year-old construction worker accused of raping a 19-year-old British woman in Malapascua Island, Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu.

Jerry Bruces was arrested shortly after the alleged rape.

Police said the victim was walking toward her rented apartment past 3 a.m. Saturday when the man assaulted her.

PO3 Dennis Velez of Daanbantayn police said the man hugged the victim from behind then covered her mouth.

The woman said she resisted but the man overpowered her and touched her private parts

The suspect hit the victim’s face several times when she shouted for help, police said.

While struggling to escape, the woman was able to  get hold of a bamboo stick and hit the man in the head.

The blow forced the suspect to run, police said.

The victim sought help from a friend who then accompanied her to the police station to report the incident.

Police conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect along a road.

 2 women fall prey to armed robbers

TWO women lost P40,000 worth of valuables to two armed robbers in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Jenny Gale Yu and Kristel Ann Go, both 21 years old, were about to open the door of their apartment in Gonzales Compound when two men on a motorcycle arrived.

Police said the two men pointed a knife and a gun at the two victims and declared a hold-up.

Yu was forced to hand over her shoulder bag which contained an iPhone 5 worth P35,000, cash, ATM cards and identification cards.

 Argao man ‘shoots’ self

A 47-YEAR-OLD allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head inside his house in barangay Langub, Argao town, southern Cebu.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the death of Marcelito Nazareno

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol near the man’s body.

The victim was found by his father Filomino with a gunshot wound in the forehead past 9 a.m. yesterday.

PO3 Benjamin Geyrosaga of Argao police said Marcelito had been suffering from a nervous breakdown.
