750 stolen electric fans recovered
Manila Police District Anti-Carnapping Unit operatives have recovered 750 electric fans worth P495,000 from a delivery truck that was hijacked early this week. Two truck helpers, Rolly Magos, 30, and Drexter Villagracia, 18, and Angeli Ginoo, who is suspected of helping her brother broker the sale of the stolen fans, were arrested in follow-up operations. The driver, Jose Morena, 39, and his alleged accomplice, Angelito Ginoo, are still at large.
The truck helpers admitted they were given P17,000 each by Morena but denied they knew about the driver’s deal with Ginoo. Erlinda Villaflor of Tech Strong Corp. in Tondo, Manila, reported the hijacking on Tuesday after she confirmed that the items were not delivered as scheduled on Monday.
A stakeout led to the arrest of Magos, who pointed to Villagracia’s whereabouts and the location of the abandoned truck in Cavite. Police arrested Angeli Ginoo in Trece Martires City. She said the buyer of the fans, Dharish Kohli, bought the items for P300,000. Kholi voluntarily surrendered the items to show that he was a buyer in good faith after he learned that these were stolen. Fire razes Marikina videoke factory
A videoke factory went up in flames, destroying about P5 million worth of properties in Marikina City on Thursday evening. The blaze started around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday at the warehouse and factory of Premier Videoke Corp. in Barangay Parang. After about seven hours, firefighters declared the fire under control. There were no injuries reported. The Marikina City Fire Station has not yet determined the cause of the blaze. Nathaniel Melican
