BRGY. Maguikay beat Brgy. Kasuntingan, 63-51, over the weekend at the start of the 6th Mandaue Mayor’s Cup-2013 Inter-Barangay 19-U category basketball tournament at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Both camps were tied at 12-all in the opening period, but Maguikay torched the hoop in the second, 28-15 behind CIT-U Wildkittens Jonher Espina and Carl Anthony Patindol to erect a commanding, 40-27 lead at the half.
Kasuntingan responded with a 13-7 run in the third quarter to close-in at 40-47 but Maguikay steadied in the fourth, 16-11 for the 12-point victory.
Jonher Espina scattered a game-high 24 points spiked by six triples to lead Maguikay while Carl Anthony Patindol added 23 markers.
Remus Cecille Caballes paced Kasuntingan with 12 points.
