WORKER ACCUSED OF THEFT

A 31-YEAR-OLD old managerial trainee of a supermarket in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City was accused of stealing the store’s proceeds worth close to half a million pesos.

Renee Rose Ramos, of Taguig City, could no longer be found after the theft in Metro Fresh n’ Easy was discovered on Wednesday morning.

Police said the cash was kept in a vault.

Lanie Monteson, the store’s grocery team leader, told police that Ramos turned over the vault’s key to her on Wednesday morning.

Monteson said she and Monica Inoc, the in-charge of the key, opened the vault and found out that cash amounting to P424,140 was already missing.

Security officer Bonifacio Larisma checked the CCTV footage of the room where the vault was kept.

In the video, Ramos was seen trying to cover the video camera with a cloth.

HONDURAN FOUND DEAD

A HONDURAN national was found dead in his house in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Police said Jose Walter Gonzales Funes, 59, was unconscious on a chair in front of a computer when he was found by his ex-girlfriend on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the woman went to the man’s rented house when the foreigner didn’t answer her phone calls.

The woman told police that she checked on the man since she became worried when he didn’t answer her calls.

JAPANESE ACCUSES STUDENT OF RAPE

A JAPANESE tourist accused a criminology student of raping her in a beach resort in barangay Okoy, Sta. Fe town, northern Cebu.

The woman went to the town’s police station on Wednesday afternoon to report the alleged rape.

Police arrested Lereto Aljun Illiot Espinosa, 21, in a follow-up operation.

The woman checked in at the nature park beach resort and was supposed to stay there for four days.

The woman said she was biking around the resort on Wednesday when she saw the man also driving a bicycle.

The Japanese said that since she was not familiar with the place, she asked help from the man.

PO2 Jeffrey Barco of the Sta. Fe police said the man allegedly brought the woman to a secluded area.

The woman alleged that the man asked her to have sex with him.

LABORER TOUCHES LIVE WIRE

A 31-YEAR-OLD construction worker was critically wounded after he accidentally touched a high-tension wire while installing a scaffolding in a building being constructed in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City Wednesday morning.

Michael Manatad, a native of Dapitan, Zamboanga Del Norte, with severe burns in the hands and feet.

Manatad, a stay-in laborer of Aiyu Builders, was first brought to a hospital in Mandaue City before was transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
