Vote-buying evil, cops told at poll workshops

CEBU CITY—Police should fight the three Gs [guns, goons and gold] in the May elections, with emphasis on stopping vote-buying, a top regional police official said.

Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo, Central Visayas police director, told policemen and officers attending a workshop on election security here that intelligence and assertiveness are traits that could stop vote-buying.

“This is a war between good and evil. We know who are the good,” said Garbo.

“Your basis, your measurement or your yardstick of a good political leader is simple: Look at those who follow the Comelec rules,” Garbo said.
