A fake traffic constable was arrested by real enforcers after he was spotted flagging down a sport utility vehicle at the corner of Roxas Boulevard and Kalaw Street in Manila on Monday.
Marcelino Trias, 51, was later brought to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) office in Makati City for questioning.
Dressed in an old and outdated MMDA traffic constable uniform, Trias yielded fake traffic violation receipts and several drivers’ licenses which would be used as evidence in the case to be filed against him, MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino said.
“We will continue to go after individuals who maliciously present themselves as employees of MMDA. I ask the public to help us police our ranks by reporting suspicious acts or arrogant behavior by any of our personnel,” Tolentino added. Niña P. Calleja
