School bus driver shot in front of Quezon City preschool

MANILA, Philippines—A 57-year-old school bus driver was gunned down before noon Wednesday in Quezon City,

According to initial reports from the Quezon City Police District Batasan station, two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot to death Rodrigo Diaz, an employee of the Creative Learning Center Educational Foundation Inc., right in front of the preschool on Sta. Catalina Street in Barangay (village) Holy Spirit.

Police investigators said that at around 11 a.m. Diaz was in his school bus, apparently waiting for classes to end so he could fetch some of the pupils when a motorcycle stopped near his vehicle.

One of the men got off the motorcycle and unloaded the entire magazine of an automatic 9-mm pistol on Diaz, who was hit in the head and body, in one burst. The victim died instantly from his wounds while the gunman sped away.

Batasan station investigators recovered at least 15 bullet casings at the site of the shooting.
