Man shot dead by 2 taxi-riding assailants

A man was shot dead by two unidentified men who used a taxi as their getaway vehicle in barangay Luz, Cebu City.

Police identified the victim as a certain Badang, who was believed to be 45 years old.

The victim was wearing a black shirt and denim pants.

SPO4 Rey Cuyos, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said no clear motive has been established in the killing.

Police said the victim was walking along Archbishop Reyes Avenue early yesterday morning when a taxi stopped near him.

Two men got off from the taxi before peppering the victim with bullets.

The assailants then went back to the taxi which sped off towards the downtown area.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds in the arm pit, chin and right lower chest.

The victim was already dead when paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) arrived.

Two deformed slugs, three empty shells, and three live bullet for a .45 caliber pistol were recovered in the crime scene, police said.

A cellphone, P200 cash, an expired driver’s license bearing the name Rodrigo Cancamo Cansancio were recovered from the victim’s possession.

The victim’s body was brought to the Surelife Feneral Service in Natalio Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City.
