Arroyo’s family vehicle figures in Batangas highway accident

MANILA, Philippines–A vehicle carrying the wife and daughter of Camarines Sur Representative Diosdado Ignacio ‘‘Dato’’ Arroyo, son of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, figured in an accident along Maharlika Highway in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, on Monday morning, police said Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Rosauro Acio, Batangas police provincial director, said that the family vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser (PEI-159), driven by Antonio Solomon hit a passenger jeepney as it passed through Barangay (village) San Vicente in Sto. Tomas town.

Acio said six passengers were injured when the Arroyo vehicle hit the jeepney which was then unloading passengers along the highway. They were rushed to St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Sto. Tomas for treatment.

Acio added that the congressman’s wife Victoria and their daughter Ive were not hurt. congressman was not with them when the accident occurred. Mrs. Arroyo and her daughter were taken to a back-up vehicle.

The Arroyo family was on its way to Manila from Laguna, according to the police report.
