UNA shrugs off bid to disqualify Estrada

MANILA, Philippines—The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) said it was never worried about efforts to disqualify former President Joseph Estrada as it was a “non-issue” to begin with.

“We were never worried about that,” said UNA campaign manager and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco in a phone interview after the Commission on Elections threw out the disqualification complaint against the former leader.

And the fact that there was even a disqualification case against Estrada was “an admission that President Erap has the upperhand,” according to his son, San Juan Representative Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito Estrada.

The young Estrada deemed such cases as harassment to “winning candidates.”
