CITY OF MALOLOS, Philippines—At least 18 people were hurt when a bus bound for San Jose del Monte City tipped over when it was hit by a pickup truck, whose driver was allegedly drunk, on the North Luzon Expressway in Meycauayan City in Bulacan on Monday night, an official of the provincial rescue team said on Tuesday.
Ramsey Reyes, leader of the medical team of Bulacan Rescue, said 13 victims were taken to the Sta. Clara de Montefalco Hospital in Meycauayan City while the rest were brought to the Nazarenus Hospital, also in Meycauayan, and Mt. Carmel Hospital in Bocaue town.
Reyes said the Nissan pickup truck, which was carrying two persons, and the Santrans Bus were traveling north at 11:30 p.m. when the pickup truck swerved, hitting the bus. The bus driver lost control of the steering wheel, causing the bus to tip over.
Reyes said the reports they received indicated that the driver of the pickup truck was drunk.
