Freak accident mars LP motorcade in Mandaue

/ 07:04 AM April 02, 2013

The Liberal Party’s motorcade, which kicked off the campaign of its candidates in Mandaue City, was briefly interrupted after its reelectionist bet for the city council, Jimmy Lumapas, was wounded after his head got hit by a telephone wire yesterday morning near the barangay hall in barangay Tingub.

Lumapas was aboard a pick-up truck together with other candidates when he was struck by the cable. He was rushed to the Don Ignacio Cortes General Hospital where his four-inch wound on the right cheek was treated. He later rejoined the campaign sortie.

“Sakit kaayo pero thankful ra ko nga wala naigo akong mata,” he said. (It was really painful but I’m thankful that I was not hit in the eye.)

Lumapas said the cable that got entangled in the truck’s canopy snapped and hit him. /REPORTER Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
