Viloria, Estrada ready for title fight in Macau

Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria is all set to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) flyweight crowns against  Mexican challenger Juan “El “Gallo” Estrada on April 6 in Macau.

Both champion and challenger are in the former Portuguese colony for the final stages of their preparation of their 12-round encounter.

Viloria is continuing his workout in Macau under the watchful eyes of trainer Freddie Roach and Filipino assistant trainer Marvin Somodio.

This will be the second world title attempt for Estrada (22W-2L, 18 KOs), who lost to Roman Gonzales of Nicaragua by unanimous decision last year for the WBA light flyweight title.

Viloria (32W-3L, 19 KOs) has won six straight fights, four by technical knockouts, since losing to Carlos Tamara by 12th round TKO in Pasay City in 2010. Viloria unified the titles last year by stopping Mexican Hernan Marquez in 10 rounds.

Three other Filipinos—brothers Dodie Boy Jr. and Dave Penalosa and Milan Melindo—are seeing action in the historic show being put up by Bob Arum’s Top Rank, Inc.

Melindo is penned to face Tommy Seran of Indonesia while Dodie Jr. and Dave will face Thai boxers Ngaotawan Sithsaithong and Cheroenchai Sithsaithong, respectively.  /correspondent Rene Bonsubre, Jr
