Eggs

/ 07:03 AM March 31, 2013

White dresses, Easter bunnies, bells, joyful shouts, Hallelujia!

It’s Easter Sunday! And the occasion is not complete without the traditional egg-hunting activity.

Eggs. Just one crack and then there’s one more life bursting out.

In a graduation ceremony I attended last week, the commencement speaker shared that one of the most memorable statements she  keeps in her heart is  from her mother,  who said the children  were eggs that she holds gently in the palm of her hands.

FEATURED STORIES

Eggs are so fragile there is that hairline difference between holding them tight but just enough not to crack them and loosening them in a way not to let them fall out, too.

We are God’s eggs that He continually looks after. He holds us in the palm of His hand and nothing by any means can ever overtake us. (Isaiah 49:13-17).

When problems make us  fear and worry, God will not let us go. He won’t let His precious eggs fall and crack to pieces.

Though there are times we feel that God’s commandments are strict and too hard to follow, we must remember that it is not His intention to choke and enslave us.

He doesn’t hold us too tight that we can’t decide for ourselves. He gave us free will to do what we want. But His commandments will always bring us back to Him and His plans to give us a good future. It is up to us to seek His will so we don’t crack and follow the wrong road.

Sometimes, we are impatient. You may still be single and have not found anyone to marry. You’re tired of waiting for the right guy to arrive. Well-meaning friends tell you to let go and trust God because He knows what’s best for you. Do you patiently remain in God’s hands or do roll down from God’s palm and splatter on the floor ?

You have tried job hunting for months and are unsuccessful. Your child leaves home and you’re frustrated that he didn’t turn out to be the person you expected him to be. Or maybe you dreamed of something big for yourself but  wake up disappointed because it’s not real.

All these can be frustrating. We should alway  be confident that God is holding us tightly in His hands to protect us and keep us strong so we won’t fall and lose  hope.

God will not let us go. He won’t let His precious eggs fall and crack to pieces.

In the Message Bible, Jesus said, “Every person the Father gives me eventually comes running to me. And once that person is with me, I hold on and don’t let go. (John 6:37)

The key is to  wait on Him, to continue to walk with God, get on with life and do well.

The Holy Week has passed. I’m sure we have presented to God our resolutions to change, be better persons deserving of His grace. And today, Easter Sunday is the start of a new life.

Have you placed your life and your future completely in God’s hands? If not, turn your opened palms toward Heaven and tell God that you’re surrendering your future to His will and letting Him take care of your personal desires. It can be scary, I know, but believe me that God will honor your dependence on Him.

We can learn to be eggs that depend so much on a person’s hand not to crack or drop them.

God will not let us go. He won’t let His precious eggs fall and crack to pieces.

It’s Easter Sunday! It’s the Catholic Church’s start of a new year— our new life to celebrate God’s gift of salvation. So claim His word in Psalm 31:15 : “My future is in your hands…”   Then as we let go, God will not.
